Comments:Somehow found you page! Haunting images. Especially the Longbridge auto works that are now gone. Very much a profile of the decline of the West. Just incredible how they left all those hundreds of partially manufactured cars there and walked out! It is sad to think of the role that factory played over the years. Excellent work!

Comments:Have really enjoyed looking at a number of your photos. The photos of the ATV Centre are brilliant. How Carlton could have even thought of closing the complex, back in '97 is beyond me. Mind you I suppose the same could be said when the BBC closed Pebble Mill. At the end of the day, our second city has lost 2 very important Broadcasting Centres and they call it progress eh? Was in town yesterday, Dec 3rd, with the Wife, going to get some tickets from Symphony Hall for her Midwifery Graduation in February. Had a look across Broad Street at the old ATV Centre, the demolition men haven't made much progress in demolishing the old Canteen area, also, it doesn't look like they've even begun to dismantle the main studio block. Wish the Crossroads Appreciation Society would put the 3 videos on their visit to the complex, back in 2005, back on U Tube. Best Wishes, Mike McClelland

Where ever I might be, turning the corner or opening the door might end up in a run in with some smack head so your heart skips a few beats yeah! But then when I go round these places there is a beautiful silence, you kind of need to be there to experience it. Anyway, I have some new galleries coming soon so please come back!

Comments:Your photos are fascinating,I know Birmingham very well as I have lived here most of my life. So I can identify with most of the places in you pictures. You must have a lot of guts going in to these places to get the shots you want, fair play to you. I would love to be able to do it but would be worried about who I may bump into. Do you ever worry about that. A lot of the photos have a haunting but sad felling about them, which is great. Anyway keep up the good work, your website has been added to my favorites.

Comments:Hi Kate, I upgraded my kit from the S5 to the Nikon D300 as it is soo much better, the focus (always a problem with Fuji) is spot on, it takes 8fps (the fuji takes about a week lol) and has loads of othe features to mention. I have been a fuji customer since 2004 when I first bought a digital camera and since then they were all fuji, so it had to be a big enough step to move over to Nikon. Kind Regards, Mike.

For me Rover was the opportunity of having a very smart car but without paying the price of a Jaguar. Rover represented the British elegance at a price that everybody could afford it. The pictures of Longbridge factory are very good, the bodyworks are like ghosts, remembering better times....

Comments:Matthew, Stuart and Mr. Crosby, Thank you all for your comments. Mr Crosby, I am glad you enjoyed the Broughton Moor images and hope you now understand the layout a bit better, its always nice to hear about the history of the sites I have documented. It makes the cause of getting out there and capturing these forgotten structures all the more worth it. Mike.

Comments:My late mother as a lass worked "bulleting belts'' in the munitions labs at the RNAD at Broughton Moor. She was to meet my father there; he was working on the magazines. Luckily (for me!) they both escaped the 1944 explosion there that killed 11 people. My mother, who came from Gt Broughton, was 21 at the time, my dad, from Cockermouth, was 19. They married four years later in 1948, at Christ Church, Great Broughton. Sadly both are now deceased.....and I still have so many questions! There has always been such a mystery about the place and it was fascinating to view your pictures Michael of this intriguing site which is full of so much lost potential. Well done, for preserving the scene.

Comments:Wow Michael, powerful images but very sad and desolate. They reminded me of all those 'end of the world as we know it' sci fi movies. Ridley Scott's moody gloomy lighting and half built technology, Terminator's mass technology and production line imagery, City of Men's poverty ridden disintergrating world. My images were made more distressed as I don't have broadband and they looked as if they'd been shot through a rain splattered lense! Loved the one of St Paul's at night - brill.

Comments:Hello Paul, thankyou for your interest (and everyone else). I managed to get the lighting in the tunnel with the use of my flashgun and bringing it down a stop to lessen the flash brightness. The tunnel area was the only place I used a flashgun, everywhere else was done on a tripod with a long exposure. The roof to the flight shed, I do know the one, as it was my only way to the entrance (over it). I dont think I took any pictures of it, but if I got back I will do it for you. Mike.

You should have some pics of this - a german-designed roof structure in a flight shed built just before WW2 - its also the largest span of its type in england if not in europe - world even(that is extant). Your lighting skills would show this up a treat. Cheers Norwichpaul

I went up to longbridge to take some photos of the outside before the last of it was knocked down missed the west works but back in 1999 i did a mini run from stoneleigh to longbridge and after driving around the outside of the main works which is bigger than you can imagine all up around the Xpower showroom the land that it covers is massive. thank you for allowing me to view your photos and welldone on the other pictures. I think the wide arched MGTF was a prototype supercharged version (Had problems with cooling). Excellent pics of the tunnels!! I had always heard a roomer that there was an new old mini down there. The roomer said that it was trapped after they built the tunnel around it? Not sure how true though! There are plenty of more former workers who will be amazed at your photos, i will pass on your web site. Ian

Comments:Great photos of Longbridge, I worked there for over 30 years. The last picture on page 4 of the toilets, I think is taken in a building called Dalmuir, were I worked for 18 years. Its just down the hill from CAB 2 were you took the photos of the painted bodies. If it is the name comes from Dalmuir on the Clyde not far from Glasgow and at one time was a submarine repair building. It would be nice to see any other photos you have of the building. Looking at them gives u different feelings as if your actaully in the place. The pics you put on the drum and bass forum are I think some of the best. Have you taken any pictures of bristol? I think your style would suit bristol. Nothing but praise fro you, from a guy who doesnt normally appreciate art! Cheers Mate
